This tiny hamlet in a low, wet cutover setting was once important as the junction of a logging railroad with the old Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Railroad, known as the Soo Line. The Toonerville Trolley is run by a descendant of the original lumberman who started the rail line. It takes the same route through the forest, now regrown, to the river.
