Black River Scenic Byway - Black River Harbor, one of only two Harbors within the National Forest System, is a popular recreation area throughout the year. The Harbor is approximately 15 miles north of Bessemer, Michigan, at the mouth of the Black River. The Black River flows through areas of large pine, hemlock and hardwood trees and has a series of scenic waterfalls as it drops to meet Lake Superior. On September 19, 1992, Highway 513, which follows this section of the Black River, was officially dedicated as a National Forest Scenic Byway in recognition of its exceptional beauty and recreational opportunities.

Copper Country Trail Scenic Byway - The Keweenaw Peninsula is truly a unique gem from both a scenic and historical point of view. The Copper Harbor Scenic Highway offers a trip through the best of the peninsula. The 27 mile stretch of U.S. Highway 41 is extremely well maintained by the Keweenaw County Road Commission. Even during the heaviest snowfalls, the road is seldom closed for more than a few hours. Rustic Attractions: Attractions the visitor will find along this route include an original 1850s era General Store, a complete blacksmith shop from the same period, two restored churches, two copper mining "ghost towns," an underground copper mine tour, and two unique roadside parks that offer relaxation with unparallelled beautiful settings. The Covered Road: The road generally follows the route the early inhabitants travelled and winds through a heavily wooded eleven-mile stretch that creates the impression of a "covered road." Area residents frequuently refer to this stretch as "the tunnel." Copper Harbor: Upon reaching the community of Copper Harbor, the traveller will have an opportunity to visit Ft. Wilkins State Park and the Copper Harbor Lighthouse, take the Isle Royale Ferry to Isle Royale National Park, or visit any of the many shops and craftspersons in the town. Motels and restaurants, including the unique Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, are available for the traveller. The Mountain Lodge also offers a nine-hole golf course that challenges even the best golfer.

Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway - Along the shores of Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay is a segment of road set aside for the enjoyment of touring visitors. The Whitefish Bay National Forest Scenic Byway is a "Highway to the Past" which passes vast expanses of clear water and miles of secluded, sandy beaches. Many interesting historical and cultural features along this route are waiting for you to explore.
