DeTour Village is located on M-134 in eastern Chippewa County. Located at the Strait of DeTour Passage where the St. mary’s River joins Lake Huron. DeTour was named by French voyageurs at the turning point to Mackinac. It was once a fishing community and firewood fueling station. Today is is a popular destination for fishermen, boaters, snowmobilers, and vacationers seeking a relaxed rustic setting. Excellent year round fishing for perch, pike, walleye, salmon, and pink salmon in the odd years. Help protect and preserve the Detour Reef Lighthouse by contacting the DeTour Reef Light Preservation Society, P. O. Box 519, DeTour Village, MI. 49725-0519.
