Copper Country Loop - 35 miles - Starting point at Ahmeek. Goes north on Five Mile Point Road to Eagle River. Side trips to waterfalls. Gently rolling hills. From Eagle River follow M-26 along Lake Michigan Lakeshore to Copper Harbor. Traffic can be heavy during the tourist season. Blowing sand may collect on the shoulder. Days River Nature Pathway, Escanaba River State Forest, North Lake Shore Drive (US-2), Gladstone, MI 49837, Phone: (906) 786-2354. The picturesque trail along the Days River winds through cedar and oak stands along the mouth of the Days River. Tree identification markers are located along the trail. A series of loops ranging from 1.5 to 9 miles feature a variety of skill levels for biking and hiking.

No crowds, mild temperatures and old growth forest. A snowshoe trail is available and all the trails are designed for traditional skiing. Nearby historic Fort Wilkins. Also features 20 miles of various bike loop lengths of technical singletrack with natural obstacles, challenging climbs and fun downhills that can link with two track roads to other points of interest.

Hiawatha National Forest - 144 miles - Route begins on M-129 south to M-48. West and north on M-48 to Rudyard. County Road 40 to Trout Lake. (Side trip on M-123 to Tahqumenon Falls or south to St. Ignace.) At Rexton, Hiawatha Trail continues west to Engadine. South on M-117 to US-2. West on US-2 to Manistique and Rapid River.
